I know that a direct link ie. pasted straight into the browser bar returns a detectable value in Javascript or PHP, but I am curious to know what the 'referrer' value would be if the link was in an email such as outlook express?

Can a hyper-link from an email be detected as referrer?
not reliably... some email is on the web, so there it would work.. but if the e-mail program is stand-alone... NOPE!
